The season for ski tours seems to be starting earlier this year. That’s great! But what do I have to take with me? Every year again and again I pack my backpack with the uncomfortable feeling of having missed something important. It can’t be that difficult, right? True, but there are some classic and helpful tools everybody should carry. This is why I decided to upload the checklist I wrote down this morning. I also added a few things at the end that are important for a glacier traverse. What else before starting your ski tour?

What else might be necessary before starting? First, one obviously to check the weather forecast. Remember that a written report is usually better than just images. Next one should check snow conditions. There are plenty of website that inform about the risk of avalanches and the snow profile in different areas. This website is very accurate and provides very high quality information for the area of Tyrol. Finally, before starting off, turn on and check your avalanche tranceiver (LVS). Comment below in case I have missed something and, even more important, have fun and enjoy your winter!
