This week, I have a quick recommendation for you. The mountain bike tour to Blaser mountain hut (2180m) and Blaser Mountain (2241m) is one of the most beautiful tours of the Gschnitz Valley. The starting point, Steinach am Brenner (1049m), Wipptal, is easily reachable by suburban train. Coming from the city of Innsbruck, the train runs at 30-minute intervals and takes about 20 minutes. The summit, just a 15-minute hike from the mountain cabin, provides a great panoramic view down to Innsbruck and Nordkette mountain range, to the neighboring Serles, to the mountains of the Zillertal Alps and Stubai Alps.

Attractive round tour

From the starting point, one has to follow the creek to the small village of Trins. In the center of Trins, one has to follow the signs indicating Blaserhütter/Padasterjochhaus. The forest road starts to get a bit steeper now, but maintains a pleasant level during the entire tour. After crossing a parking lot and a gate, one has just to continue uphill. The mountain hut is very well indicated: Just follow the “Blaserhütte – MTB Strecke” signs. At the mountain hut, the summit is just a short hike away. The panoramic view up there is definitely worth the additional effort. The downhill starts in a South West direction, following the signs indicating “Trins-Padasterjochhaus”. It is a narrower path (trail), but which is easily manageable also for beginners. When you reach a wooden cabin, turn to the right. After that, the round trip takes you to the parking lot above the village of Trins. The complete altitude difference is 1106m, the distance is 24,1 km. On Almenrausch (German), there is a more detailed description of the mountain bike tour.
